See My Byline: Writing for Newspapers and Web sites

Workshop description:  Margo Dill will lead a discussion on how to write for
newspapers and Web sites. She has experience writing for
The News-Gazette,  a
Jewish recipe Web site,
WOW! Women On Writing, Demand Studios, and various
magazines and anthologies. While she works on her YA novel and picture books and
waits for her historical middle grade novel to be published, she writes articles and
gets paid for them! This interactive talk will give tips on how to see your own name as
a byline on an article.  There will also be some time to practice writing sections of
nonfiction pieces.

(This workshop can be adapted for any time frame or format.)
Writing for Love AND Money: Ideas for Getting Paid Before
You're Famous

Description: Margo Dill will give practical ideas, suggestions, and instructions on
how to get paid doing what you love--writing. She provides several resources where
freelance writing jobs can be found, and she draws from her own experiences as a
paid freelance writer as well as other writers' experiences. Margo will provide time
to do some reflecting and goal-setting. You should leave this workshop with one or
two ideas on how you, personally, can get paid for your writing immediately. This
workshop is perfect for writers' groups and conferences for any genre of writer.
